Who is Julian Moiwai? I like to say I could be anybody, but that is not the truth - I am me. As a deaf first-generation American born to immigrant parents from Germany and Sierra Leone, I am a proud Peace Corps baby.
Raised in Durham, North Carolina, I loved watching movies and videos when I was growing up. They brought stories to my eyes that my mind would write in my head. A story always has a beginning, middle and end. In high school, I studied photography and theater at Durham School of the Arts, where my interest in art was born.
I continued my passion later after I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Advertising and Public Relations in Rochester, New York. It kept growing over time while working at ZVRS where I earned an amazing opportunity to intern in Marketing in 2012. The internship then became a full-time career, in which I am grateful to grow today.
With 7 years of professional experience in social media, brand development and video production, I am a digital tech nerd who enjoys creating and developing various contents for social media, pre-concept writing various types of video, and flying my DJI drone on sunny days.
I hold an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, which allows me to legally operate unmanned drones for commercial purposes. The certificate reflects my knowledge of the rules and regulations that the FAA has set to integrate the use of drones into the National Airspace System. While following the rules, I value both structure and creativity in my work. I'm a member of the International Association of Press Photographers and serve on the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) Alumni Association Board of Directors.
